Owen Family Update - Week of June 19, 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we prepare to close the end of the school year, we are also getting our next school year ready for September. We are thrilled to be able to recall our Vice-Principal position so Ms Glinos will still be with Owen.  She is looking forward to extending her stay and learning alongside our Owen community.

There will be some staff changes next year. A well-deserved retirement after at least 30 years with TDSB for Ms Rosenbloom, Mr. Vernon and Mme Mera. All are looking forward to spending more time with family, doing their hobbies and learning to have more ME-time to stay healthy and fit. All have loved working with the Owen community and will miss seeing the students' smiling faces.

We also have some Owen babies joining our community!  Mme Hammond and Ms Lila will be off to spend more time with the  new addition to their family.  We look forward to meeting their newest member in the next school year!  We love seeing our little Owen babies!

Please be sure to stop by to congratulate and say goodbye to all our staff who are leaving.  Congratulations to all!

Track & Field

On Thursday, June 15 we had a team of 50 students, Gr 4 and 5, participate in track and field events at Esther Shiner Stadium. We had many fast runners, far jumpers and excellent shot putters!

Thank you to all the parents who drove students, bought treats and cheered on the athletes.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and found has filled up again! Parents, please ask your children to take a quick look for missing belongings. We will also have all items in the front hall outside the gym if you see something that belongs to your child. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of next week.

And a special thank you to the Grade 5 FI students for organizing and photographing all of the items for Owen Online.

Moving Out of Owen for September 2023?

As we are beginning the process for next year please let us know if your child will be moving to another school.  We want to make sure their Ontario Student Records (OSR) or any other important information gets forwarded to their new school.  If students are moving out of the province, their OSR will stay at Owen and can be retrieved if they return to Ontario.

Grade 5 students graduating will also need to complete this form.
