We had a busy schedule this past week with our Grade 3 participating in the EQAO assessment. Students were worked very hard on this online assessment and gave their all in numeracy and literacy (just numeracy for the French Immersion students). Congratulations to all the Gr 3 students. Ice-cream sandwiches for all!
Our PA system is on its way and we are hoping to use it before the end of the year. Don't mind the wires and ladders the facilities staff have been using. It will all be worth the wait!
We've been monitoring very closely our washrooms as our hard working caretakers are having to put in extra time to clean pee and poop on the walls, lip gloss marks on the stalls, soap smeared on the mirrors and floors, sandwiches and water bottles flushed down the toilet. We've talked to individual classes, made morning announcements and had classes create lovely posters for the washrooms, which were torn down and thrown in the toilets.
We are tracking students' visits to the washroom and limiting time students are in the washroom to prevents students from hanging out during unstructured time when they are not supervised. Please have a discussion with your child about proper use of the washrooms, to respect their environment and to have respect for those who have to use this public space. It take a village to stop these acts of disrespect and we encourage all students to stand up and advocate to have a clean space. We encourage our students to speak up and let others know that this is unacceptable!
We have lots of events coming. Please check the calendar daily.

Moving Out of Owen for September 2023?
As we are beginning the process for next year please let us know if your child will be moving to another school. We want to make sure their Ontario Student Records (OSR) or any other important information gets forwarded to their new school. If students are moving out of the province, their OSR will stay at Owen and can be retrieved if they return to Ontario.
Grade 5 students graduating will also need to complete this form.
Watch the video below which shows two people playing the first few turns of a game.
What do you notice? What do you want to ask?
Watch the video a second time.
Can you work out how to play the game? What do you think the rules might be? How might someone win the game?
If you are unable to view the video, you could click through this powerpoint presentation, which also demonstrates how to play. Alternatively, the rules of the game are hidden below.
