Happy Mother's Day to all our Mother figures. Whether you gave birth to a child, raised one, mentored one or help guide one in some way, we want to thank all on this special day.
We had a very busy week with parent council getting ready for Spring Fling, Gr 5 students preparing for the Math Carnival and our students adjusting to the warm weather.
On Friday, we had many students from Ms. Burchell's class help try to save two little baby birds that fell out of their nest by the portables. With lots of effort on providing shade , water and food, making new nest and giving their parents a chance to help them, the students did an amazing job to help these little ones. Unfortunately one of the little birds had too many injuries and did not survive. The students created a nest based on the Toronto Wildlife advice. We hung it near the nest and saw the parents nearby ready to provide food for the little one left.
Unfortunately the little one didn't make it but lots of effort was put in to help the birds. Thank you Owen students for caring!

Moving Out of Owen for September 2023?
As we are beginning the process for next year please let us know if your child will be moving to another school. We want to make sure their Ontario Student Records (OSR) or any other important information gets forwarded to their new school. If students are moving out of the province, their OSR will stay at Owen and can be retrieved if they return to Ontario.
Grade 5 students graduating will also need to complete this form.
If you can't make it in person, you can join us virtually. Here is the information on how to connect. You can also find the link on the school calendar.
This is a game for two players. You can use the interactivity below, or you could print off a page of blank clock faces in Word or as a pdf.
Set the time on the clock to 6 o'clock to start the game. Decide who will go first (player 1) and who will go second (player 2). Take it in turns to choose to move the hands of the clock on by 12 hour or by 1 hour. For example, player 1 could choose 12 hour, so the clock hands move to 6.30, then player 2 might choose 1 hour, moving the clock hands to 7.30... etc. The winner is the player who moves the hands exactly onto 12 o'clock.
Can you work out a winning strategy so that you can always beat your opponent?
Need more information? If you have more questions about Spring Fling, please contact Parent Council Co-chairs Yassamin and Evelyn.
