Dear Owen Families,
We have had another eventful week at Owen Public School.
On Tuesday we had our first visit from our superintendent Felsen. He met with some students, staff and school leadership. The students in French Immersion kindergarten loved speaking French with him!
On Thursday we had our first School Council meeting of the school year. An executive was elected and many important items were discussed. If you missed it, the agenda and minutes will be posted shortly on the parent council page of our school website. This was a hybrid meeting. The zoom link for this and all future meetings could be found on the Owen School Calendar.
On Friday we had Orange Shirt Day to honour those children who died in Residential Schools and also survivors and their families. We had a virtual assembly in the morning and it was so good to see so many staff and students showing their commitment to Truth and Reconciliation by wearing orange clothing and learning together about the reasons for the day.
This coming Monday is School Reorganization day across the TDSB. See below for details about how this has affected Owen Public School.

Welcome!
Our 2 /3 homeroom position has been filled through a transfer. We welcome Lisette La Farciola who comes highly recommended!
Stay tuned…
We hope to have the .5 prep position filled soon. In the meantime we will have some wonderful occasional teachers helping us out!
Staff Role Changes
Ms Goldstein will become a straight grade 3 teacher. We are happy to have Ms. Nguyen continue in the role until Ms. Goldstein's return.
Ms. Burchell will be teaching a straight 4.
Check your Email Please
If your child is in grade 2-5 English, please check your email to see if your child is changing classes / teachers. Just like at the beginning of the year it will say the name of their teacher and their entry door.
We know that for students and parents, changing classes may be difficult and may require an adjustment period. Students will be supported as they transition through these classroom changes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Naymark, Ms. Richter-Glinos or or your child’s teacher.
