March Break

Delegates from Jiangsu, China

On February 26th we welcomed 30 delegates from China.  They came to observe practices in Canada to help inform their own learning.  We had 4 students who speak Mandarin who were our Student Ambassadors to guide and translate for our visitors.  They were able to see a short play in Ms Burchell's Gr 2 class and try out STEAM activities in Mme Balaban's Gr 3FI class.

As a thank you for the tour, they left us a scroll and art piece which were  created by their students.

A great experience for all of us!

The Parent and Community Engagement Office is offering three webinars for school councils regarding understanding the basics of school councils, bylaws and school council effectiveness. The webinars will take place on the dates and times below. All webinars will be available via YouTube. Links are below but do not go live until the date listed.

Tuesday, March 26, 2019, 7:00 p.m.: School Council Bylaws http://youtu.be/HdKeeFxklzs

One can’t hope to have an effective School Council without a firm foundation. This webinar will take participants through the need-to-know of writing School Council Bylaws. Whether you’re looking to update your current document or to write a new one, this workshop will keep you focused on what’s important - and how to get there.

Wednesday, April 10, 2019, 7:00 p.m.: School Council Effectiveness http://youtu.be/LGMxJGulPQk

School Councils are most successful at engaging their families when they work effectively. This webinar examines how communication, committees and volunteers will connect with your community.
