About the programs:

The Mathematica Centrum prepares some of the top mathematics competitions in North America. We are pleased to inform you that we are offering the students of our school the opportunity to participate in contests this year. We will register our students in three different contests: Byron–Germain (grade 4), Fibonacci (grade 5), Pythagoras (grade 6) Contests. Since 1990, more than 1 000 000 students in Canada and the United States have participated in these contests and it is our hope that our students will participate this year.

Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest The purpose of this competition is to introduce youngsters from grade 1 to grade 12 to math challenges in a fun and enjoyable way, thus inspiring their further interest and advancement in mathematics. The competition is held yearly in more than 50 Canadian cities. The contest location can be changed any time before the start of the contest registration in January. Changing the location is also allowed later, before the official contest registration deadline, if there are available spaces in the desired site. Students may choose to participate in English or in French.
The 2018 World Mathematics Olympiad was held in Stanford University on August 11th, 2018.

The IVY league university ranks the second best in the world, and has cultivated 60 Nobel laureates, 20 Turing laureates (the highest distinction in computer science), 7 Fields Medal laureates (the highest distinction in mathematics).

The competition started in the morning with the opening ceremony, and was followed by the individual test. In the afternoon, all participants competed in the group competition.

Winter is here with lots of snow and wet grounds.  Recess and lunch times are excellent opportunities for students to get fresh air and exercise outside.

Students are expected to be outside unless they are involved in an activity or have a doctor's note stating they need to stay indoors.

Please help your child prepare for the winter weather with a warm jacket, boots, mitts and hat.  Indoor shoes are also required to change into during class to help keep our classrooms and school clean.

School Clubs and Committees

Extra curricular activities are offered by teachers outside instructional time to enhance students' learning and to create opportunities for leadership and community building.  Student clubs and committees are offered throughout the year.  This chart will be kept up to date of any new clubs/committees added throughout the year.
