While this presentation is geared to Gr. 1 parents, all are certainly welcome to join.

Day of Pink - Feb. 28th

Many of our staff members are ordering t-shirts to be worn on Wednesday, February 28th for Anti-Bullying Day and we decided to open this up to students as well. While we encourage our students to wear pink on the day, there is no obligation or expectation that students purchase a t-shirt. We have set up shirts for sale on the Cash Online if you are interested. (Grade 5 students will be at Camp Muskoka during this week).

Camp Muskoka Info Night - Gr. 5 Parents

Our Grade 5 Camp Muskoka trip is coming up fast and is booked for Monday, February 26 to Wednesday, February 28, 2018.

Our Parent Information Night will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 6:30pm in the Library.

We will be discussing expectations, packing lists, and answering all questions in order to make our trip exciting and successful.

Babysitting Course - Gr. 6 Students

We will be offering a babysitting course hosted by St. John's Ambulance for our Grade 6 students on Friday, March 9th, 2018 at the school. For those interested in taking the full day course the cost is $59 payable to Owen PS. We have surveyed students for interest and can take a maximum of 18 students in the course. If there is interest beyond the first 18 we will look into offering a second date later in the school year.

We will operate on a first come, first served basis for sign up. Forms sent home on Friday, January 12 or available in the office.

Medic Alert

Thanks to generous donors and supporters, the MedicAlert No Child Without program has protected over 66,000 children since 2006. No Child Without is offered free of charge to children ages 4 to their 14th birthday through over 6,000 participating public and Catholic schools across Canada.

If your child is attending a participating school, simply follow the steps below to enroll:
Step 1: Complete this online form to receive a unique bar code and PIN or pick up an enrollment brochure from your child’s school.
Step 2: Visit the enrollment page and enroll online or call 1-877-282-5378 (Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST).

Kids Kitchen Update

Dear Parent(s)

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday break!  We are trying something new at Owen Public School.  Effective immediately, there will no longer be a minimum order requirement for your Kid's Kitchen lunches!  Order as little or as much as you would like.  This trial will run until the end of the school year.

We offer our service at Owen Public School Monday to Friday (except for Pizza Days).

Leave the lunches to us.  With everything that's on your plate, you can feel good about ordering hot, fresh lunches that are delicious, affordable and as good as homemade.  Rely on us to make your child's lunch in our nut-free kitchen and delivered fresh at lunch time.

Junior Extended French (JEF)
(Grade 4 Entry)

Applications to the Junior Extended French program may be submitted, on behalf of students in the English program, the year the child is in Grade 3 for entry in September of Grade 4. It is an entirely online process. All communication will be sent via the email address you provide. Please check your email regularly, including junk mail folders.

·     You will need your child’s date of birth and OEN. The OEN is a 9-digit number found on any report card from the TDSB.
·     For non-TDSB students, please select the “Non-TDSB Student” option and follow the steps to generate an identification number. You must then return to the PARS site and follow the application procedure with this number.
·     Please select Junior Extended French from the drop-down menu and complete the application process.
On-time applicants will be offered a placement online via the email address you have provided. You MUST take action to accept this placement by the deadline requested when you are offered a placement.
Offers of placement will be on-going through the weeks and months following the close of the application period. Please check your email regularly, including junk mail folders, and follow any instructions.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Application process opens: Monday, January 8, 2018
Deadline for applications: Thursday, February 8, 2018
Please note:
·     while every effort will be made to place students in the school identified as their area JEF school, this is not always possible. In cases where the number of applications in a given area is greater than the number of spaces in the school, students may be redirected to schools with available space.
·     Placements are made based on the address you provide prior to the application deadline. If your address changes between the application deadline and the fall of the Grade 4 year, there is no guarantee of placement in your new area.
