Owen Online Family Update - Week of December 10th, 2023

   

Dear Owen Families,

Thank you so much for your generosity!  We appreciate every donation to our Holiday Hamper campaign to help TDSB and local families in need. We are hoping for a few last-minute gifts to top off our hampers.  Grocery store gift cards are especially appreciated!

Last week we had a great time on Thursday celebrating Hour of Code.  Students were enthralled when they got a sneak-peek at the Mia and Cody Show and then they had fun using the learn-to-code app that goes along with the show.

This week we extend our gratitude for the leadership of Ms. Naymark who has been our Acting Principal since September.  We will miss you!  We look forward to welcoming Ms. Kelsall.  Please see the letter from Superintendent Felsen for more details.

Reminders from TDSB

"Winter Break Reminder - Schools will be closed for Winter Break from December 25, 2023, to January 5, 2024. The first day back to school after the break is Monday, January 8, 2024.

Winter Weather - From time to time, it may be necessary to cancel student transportation, classes, and/or programs because of severe weather. On rare occasions, severe weather makes it necessary to close schools, administrative offices, or sites. Visit the website to learn about Snow/Cold Weather and the Procedure for Severe Weather."

Non Perishable Food Collection

On the evening of our concert we put out bins from the Daily Bread Food Bank. Our goal is to fill at least 4 of them. Please ask your children to listen to the Morning Announcements as there will be special spirit days on which we will be collecting non-perishable food items.

Snack Program 

Morning snacks are available through the generosity of the parent council. The intent is to help those students who are in need. If you are able to provide snacks for your child, please ensure that you include sufficient snacks for both morning and afternoon snack time.

Pizza Lunch will continue on Thursdays until December 14th.

Lunch Timings

Main Lunch: 11:55 AM - 12:30 PM

Kindergarten Lunch: 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM

Would you like to Volunteer?

Parents will supervise the Grade 5 students distributing the pizzas to ensure a smooth process. Each parent volunteer will oversee multiple classes.
