May 31, 2020

Hello Owen Families,

We have come to the end of May and have been online now for 2 1/2 months.  Only one more month of school before our summer holidays.

With businesses beginning to open and schools preparing for entry to pick up items, students may ask what face coverings are and why do we need them. Here is a great site to help explain this.

Don't forget to check out TDSB's

Mental Health and Well-Being Resources During Covid-19 to help your child through this pandemic.  Check out the TikTok Messages of Hope created by TDSB students.

Challenge to Owen students!
What messages of hope can you send to the Owen Community?  Share with your teacher, class or Ms Rosenbloom so we can see it here in the Owen Online Bulletin.

Picking Up Student Items from School

The Toronto Public Health has approved the following protocol for parents to be allowed to come into the school to pick up student items before the year ends.  It is not mandatory to come to the school to pick up belongings and students or parents/guardians should only visit the school if absolutely necessary.

A schedule to sign up will be sent out later this week for parents to sign up to pick up items between June 8th and June 26th.  There are very strict guidelines that everyone must follow in order to keep everyone safe and healthy:

  • Please be patient.
  • Anyone entering the school must do a self-assessment prior to coming to the school.  Only those who have passed the self-assessment with no COVID-19 symptoms will be allowed access.
  • Arrive on time.
  • Enter only through designated doors.
  • Each visit is limited to 15 minutes.  If you have more than one child, you can pick up your other children's items during that time.
  • Students and parents are strongly encouraged to bring and wear their own mask or face covering;
  • Respect all physical distancing requirements, staying at least 6 feet away from others who do not live with you.
  • Drop off any items, such as library books, at the entrance door (include your child’s name, teacher and list of items returned).
  • Retrieve belongings from classroom/portable.
  • Put any garbage in the bins provided.
  • Anything that is not collected will be bagged, labelled and stored until schools reopen.
  • Know that playgrounds are not open.
  • Exit school building and property promptly.
