are looking for more parent volunteers for our next Pizza Day as we only have 2
volunteers! We particularly need kindergarten parents as we don’t have

OSAC Update
Hello Owen families,
There are lots of exciting things coming up! Spring Fling will be held on Thursday May 23 this year. Please mark your calendars! As returning families already know, this is a fun-filled fair filled with games, food and bouncy castles, but we can’t do it without your help. Here are the positions that we are looking to fill:
- Games Coordinator
- Prizes Coordinator
- Ticket and Bracelet Sales Coordinator
- Bottle Bonanza Coordinator
- Bake Sale Coordinator
Plus we need lots of extra helping hands on the day of and are hoping that we can count on one volunteer per Owen family.
Lastly, there are many OSAC positions that will be coming open and available for next school year. We are looking to have the following positions filled:
- Co-Chairs (2): Preferably one English and one French
- Secretary (1)
- Co-Treasurer (1)
- Volunteer Coordinator (1)
- Yearbook Coordinator (1)
- Communications/Website Coordinator (1)

SUNDAY MAY 26th MATINEE
Come From Away, the remarkable true story of 7000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them, is being offered as a relaxed performance on Sunday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto. Relaxed performances welcome patrons of all ages and their family and friends, including those on the autism spectrum, with a sensory or communication disorder, ADD/ADAHD, a learning disability or anyone who would benefit from a relaxed atmosphere. Patrons can move around, light and noise intensities may be decreased, house lights will stay partially lit and a quiet space is available for anyone who wants a break.
This is a special opportunity for people who often cannot attend a theatre performance. And Come From Away should be experienced by everyone. Please distribute the information on this performance to family and friends, so as many people as possible can be made aware of this special performance. Tickets range from $29 - $79.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will be presenting their first Relaxed Performance on April 27th at 11AM. Relaxed Performances are designed specifically for people living with autism spectrum disorders, sensory and communication disorders, learning disabilities, or anyone who wants a more casual concert experience.
The Relaxed Performance will differ from other TSO concerts in a number of ways:
- If patrons need to move around, express themselves vocally, leave the concert hall, or take a break in the quiet room, they are welcome to;
- Audience members will have access to a Visual Guide that details the concert experience, step by step, in order to reduce anxiety about it, and a fact sheet with detailed information about the performance itself;
- Rows of seats at the back of the hall will be kept empty should guests wish to move away from the sound of the orchestra on stage;
- Patrons will have access to a quiet room furnished with comfortable seating, stress-relieving fidgets, and relaxing activities;
- The TSO will provide other resources such as sound-dampening headphones;
- Specialized training will be provided to musicians, TSO staff, and front-of-house personnel at Roy Thomson Hall by Relaxed Performance Consultant, Rachel Marks.
Tickets are affordable, with group pricing (10 or more tickets) being $15/ticket (plus a flat $10 per order service charge) and individual tickets $17/ticket (plus a $6 service charge). For questions about accessibility or to purchase tickets, please contact TSO Patron Services at 416.598.5099.

Traffic Safety & Parking
This is a friendly reminder that there is absolutely NO PARKING in the circular driveways at Owen PS. The front loop is for quick drop off and the back driveway is for buses only. Thanks to our amazing volunteers who keep our children safe each morning! The safety of Owen students is our first priority.
ONLINE REPORTING
If we have a license plate and/or description of the driver we can lay charges for moving violations, if the complainant is willing to go to court and can identify the driver.
If the complainant is not willing to go to court, we will send a letter to the registered owner about traffic safety.
