THE MILK PROGRAM IS BACK!!!

We are delighted to announce that the Milk Program will resume on Tuesday January 14, 2020.

Your child will need a milk ticket to exchange for a carton of milk.

WHITE milk tickets are for white milk only.
BLUE milk tickets can be used for either white or chocolate milk.

Milk tickets are now available for purchase online at https://tdsb.schoolcashonline.com/Home/SignIn

Ticket sales will cut off on January 8, 2020, and tickets will be delivered to your child on January 13, 2020. Buy today to avoid disappointment. Next tickets delivery will be Feb. 3rd if you miss this one.

The Milk Program is only made possible with parents volunteering to support the program. We are still 2-3 parents short to fill the full week schedule. Time commitment is 1.5 hours every TWO weeks from 11-12:30pm. Please message Gretchen at 416-417-3292 if you can help in any way.

Thank you,

Gretchen & Kelly
(parents of Sonia & Mana in Grade 2)

Mom's Activity Nights
Our next activity at Mom's Night will be Volleyball, 5-6pm, in the gym on
Wednesday, January 8.
Any and all levels of play are welcome.

A message from our Gym Teachers:
Winter Break is a great time to check those indoor shoes. Students need to have shoes that fit properly and shoes with grip.

March is Greek Heritage Month.  It is an occasion to recognize and celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Greek Canadians to Canada, an occasion to mark and enjoy the history of Greek culture.
One of the highlights for Greek Heritage Month 2020 this coming March will be the TDSB Greek Heritage Month Multi-Media Contest, featuring original student & staff work in three creative categories:

2)   Sharpen your pencil!  Write something!
3)   Let’s get digital!

The focus of this year’s media campaign is:  “Inquire, Inspire, Innovate – Σπουδή, Καινοτομία, Έμπνευση
How have Greeks of the past and present demonstrated inquiry, inspiration and innovation?
Four groups qualify: K to Grade 3, Grade 4 to 8; and Grade 9 to 12; and TDSB staff.  A winning submission will be selected from each of the qualifying groups.

December 12, 2019

Save the Date!
Our drama club has been preparing for a holiday performance of the Grinch. Unfortunately we have no space available to perform before the holidays. We have decided to perform on the first Friday after we return from the holidays. The kids have been working very hard on this and we are excited to perform on Friday, January 10. We will do one performance in the morning after announcements and one after lunch.

Last year we partnered with Socks 4 Souls and started a sock drive for the homeless. We decorated our holiday tree at the school with socks we collected and we would like to continue this again this winter. The Owen Spirit Council asks that each family bring a pair of new, cotton socks to the Winter Concert on December 12th or anytime this week.

Winter is here with lots of snow and wet grounds.  Recess and lunch times are excellent opportunities for students to get fresh air and exercise outside.

Students are expected to be outside unless they are involved in an activity or have a doctor's note stating they need to stay indoors.

Please help your child prepare for the winter weather with a warm jacket, boots, mitts and hat.  Indoor shoes are also required to change into during class to help keep our classrooms and school clean.

Traffic Safety: Safety over Convenience

We are working together as a community to create safe passage to and from school.  We have increase supervision as much as we can and have occasional help from the local police department as well.  Some big danger zones include:

- parking near the loop entrances

- parking in the front or back loop

- parking on the crosswalk in the back loop

Please see the pamphlet that was distributed today.  If you see unsafe situations, please report it to the office immediately.
